Purpose:

CMDA Rochester encourages and equips Christian healthcare professionals to follow Christ, advance Biblical principles of healthcare, and serve all people with excellence and compassion.

 

Why CMDA?

A national Evangelical umbrella organization that provides unity, inter-connection, and resources

 

Program:

  • Calibrated to doctors' needs and time constraints


  • Four Annual Events - Annual Fall Banquet, Oath Swearing, Summer Picnic, and a Speaker Event


  • Communication and Coordination - Email Listing, Networking, Mentoring, Praying, Funding

EVENTS


Physicians are already far too busy. Our CMDA Faculty Chapter follows the 'Goldilocks Rule' - not too many events, not too few events - but just the right amount!   We aim to host or support just four events each year: 

  • Our Annual Fall Banquet - Bill Cheshire, Dr. Tait Shanafelt, Pastor John Steer, Dr. Farr Curlin and Prof. Hans Madueme have all been keynote speakers recently.

  • Our student chapter organizes an Annual Hippocratic Oath Swearing Ceremony for our graduating class which we support. 

  • A joint Summer Picnic with Side-by-Side in August. This is a great opportunity to fellowship with this wonderful organization. 

  • A Guest Speaker Event. We sponsor an annual speaker event in Rochester that brings a Christian perspective to current medical practice. In 2016, Dr. Richard Winter spoke on Perfectionism and in 2017 Henk Reitsma spoke on Physician Assisted Suicide in the Netherlands. In 2018, Dr. Scott Kim spoke on PAS and Issues of Conscience and in 2019, Dr. Farr Curlin spoke on Contending Conscientiously. In 2020, Dr. Ben Daxon spoke via Zoom on The Covid-19 Frontlines and in 2021, Dr. Mike Chupp gave an update on CMDA National. In 2022 we heard from Dr. Jeff Barrows on Transgenderism and in 2023 Senator Carla Nelson gave an update on Abortion legislation in MN. In 2024, Dr. Ryan Antiel introduced the Project on the Good Surgeon and this year we heard from Dr. Phil Letizia on a Theology of Disability.

We want to establish a CMDA chapter that will have a lasting impact and be a solid support to our student chapter. To do that we need two things - a committed core of members, and adequate funding. With our current membership of over 90 Physicians and our terrific Executive Committee and Advisory Council, we have the former.

Annual Dues. In order to secure the latter, the executive committee feels that establishing an annual dues for our members would give a steady source of funding. They also feel that $100 a year is a reasonable and sufficient amount to help accomplish our goals. This would enable us to bring in speakers, build our network and support our student ministry.  Please prayerfully consider whether you can support our efforts in this way.

Please pay your annual dues through a check made out to 'CMDA Rochester' and mail to 1445 12th Avenue NE, Rochester, MN 55906. Alternatively, you can pay online by credit card or by PayPal below.

Tax-Deductible Receipts. For those who would like to receive a tax-deductible receipt, it is possible to send an annual donation to the head office of CMDA, noting that your annual donation is for 'CMDA Rochester MN' and you will be issued the appropriate receipt. This donation can also be made online at cmda.org/rochester.
